When I think about musical numbers, I shake my head at how people automatically think that musical numbers stink.

I would point out to those people that not all musical numbers are bad. Sure, there are numbers in The Land Before Time that were not all that great, as an example. But Disney has a lot of numbers that were totally good quality stuff, like the "Hell Fire" song in Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The way I see it, some of the musical numbers in MLP: FIM are totally on par with Disney's stuff, with "This Day Aria" standing out. Pinkie's songs are pretty silly, but at least the other characters acknowledge their silliness. Fluttershy sings some pretty impressive songs.

I still want to see RD open a flight school for beginners in Ponyville

Some of the fanfics I've seen justify Dashie's not having joined the Wonderbolts yet with a number of reasons:

1. Dashie is pretty good, but she gets more reckless than she has to. She also has problems working in a team.
2. Political: There's some powerful ponies who think there's a queue to get in the Wonderbolts.
3. Political: Dashie is the Element of Loyalty. PR shitstorm will ensue if she fails to make it in.

Actually yeah, that would be a good episode. Cheerilee could enlist RD to teach some flying classes to the pegusus students.

I generally think its the first one, plus the fact that while her moves are impressive she still botches them fairly often, so she still needs a lot more practice.

Well if Cheerilee is going to enforce her typical "oversight" policies on Dash then those kids are definitely going through Ghastly Gorge.

I also like to imagine that the main reason Dash hasn't even been considered for the Wonderbolts is because despite her skill and abilities it turns out the Wonderbolts don't except Flight School dropouts.

@Mio: I wonder if its also an age thing? Dash is still pretty young, while if the uniform from the finale is anything to go by Soarin has had some military service.

I like to believe that the Bolts are better for experience related reasons.

@Crowfall: The "Wonderbolts are part of the Equestrian Military" fanon is pretty popular for a reason. Though, I can't imagine RD going through any sort of military training without being dishonorably discharged.

An elite group actually being better at what they do then the main character with the same interest/focus, and accomplishing things? What manner of sorcery do you speak of?
