Zecora's cutie mark could be a plant, I mean sunflowers still look like suns, right? Alternatively if it is actually a sun form a meta perspective it could just mean that Zecora is a sub-Celestia, like a closer-to-home mentor.

Oooh, interesting fanon idea: The reason all of the guards look the same is because they're not real ponies. Celestia 'synthesizes' them to create the appearance of a larger military, and to allow her to see multiple places at once. Doing so takes up a heavy chunk of her magical power, though, so in order to operate at full power she would need to dissipate them.

The jury is out on just how 'aware' they are, but if they have any degree of true sapience it's a reason why she doesn't just do it whenever shit needs getting done; she doesn't want to 'kill' them unless it's an emergency.

@Kegs: My own intepretion is that the guards are normal ponies wearing a Divine Buff from Celestia that makes them all look similar.

@Kegi I always liked to think that their armour changed their appearance and build.

1.) So they can look more imposing

2.) To hide their identities

@Kegi And Luna does the same with her bat guards?

And it would make the part where the guards are ferrying Twilight and Spike in Episode 1 and the part where 3 guards attack Nightmare Moon interesting.

I prefer that they are all given enchantments that buffs them (and gives them matching appearances). Hence why Luna's look different, the Night Guards are given different enchantments.

@Pannic: It's more an issue of bolstering the ranks - SA and other officers are still genuine ponies to actually keep things moving, it's just the grunt force is all automata.

Right, yeah. Updated the tumblr. I really need to play catchup on my rewatches. Also, I'm just going to leave the first chapter of this story here for those who aren't too averse to shipping. Although hopefully I'm handling it in a relatively unique fashion.
