One of the things I found amusing was that Twilight, despite actually being from Canterlot, and Princess Celestia's protoge at that, seems to fit in much less than Rarity, to the point the snobbish ponies just see her as another commoner. It's one of those things that's either a huge oversight or a cute showing of Character Development.
Considering how Twi never socialized at all until she came to Ponyville, it makes a lot of sense that her social skills would be "charmingly rustic" rather than upper-crust.
