I think the only thing I was really disappointed with in the episode is that, after the vision of Cloudsdale being destroyed, I was hoping for an Apocalyptic Montage of the Sugar variety. See how the rest of Equestria was being affected, maybe a few cameos from other characters (What does Braeburn think of ballet dancing buffalo?).

Maybe another time...

After Twilight gets corrupted and starts walking back to the library, among the crazy things you see in the background is some strange pink pony with a propeller beanie and a screw and baseball for a cutie mark.

Interestingly, donkeys, horses, and zebras (the three Equines) are the only surviving odd-toed ungulates (other than rhinos and tapirs, which form their own sub-order). Every other hooved animal is an even toed ungulate and taxonomically very different. I wouldn't have even though buffalo were intelligent if the show hadn't said so, because they are so far from ponies on the evolutionay tree.

Who is Screwball? The new background (well, she wasn't in the background, but still) pony that appeared in today's episode! She had a screw and a ball for a cutie mark, possibly a shout out to a classic Daffy Duck cartoon. I personally prefer "Topsy Turvy" for her nickname, though...

So something's occurred to me about Luna not showing up in the opener. If she did, she likely would have played a smaller role, like Celestia did. But because she didn't appear, and we know for a fact that she will, it means that in all likelihood she's going to get a focus episode!

Her return is supposed to be "epic" so who knows?

I'm actually thinking of what role she'll play to the mane cast. She can't really be a mentor, since Celestia's already doing that.

If luna is nocturnal, and Celestia sleeps normally. What did Celestia do when she was in charge of both night AND day? When did she rest?
