Friendship is connected to the elements. Does that mean Celestia has no friends?

Politicians have few friends.

Monarchs even less.

Tyrants none.

Would it really surprise you?

She wants Twilight to study friendship so she can understand it and make friends herself.

I think the problem is more on her subjects' end. Of the few times we've seen her interacting with her subjects, she tends to act quite informally, but they always go out of their way with the deference and everything. It's hard to be friends with somebody when they bow every time they enter your presence.

Would certainly explain why she sent only two tickets in Ticket Master. She was confused by the concept that Twilight still has friends after a couple of weeks.

I think it's more that she sent out form letters, and two tickets is the standard for that sort of thing.

But she know how friendship works. Every time she show up in series she give us proof that she know much thing about friendship , only don't have many friends (maybe only Luna, Twilight and Spikes are only friends).

Well okay, if you want me to give my serious view on the subject:

Celestia is immortal. The only other confirmed immortal pony is Luna, who was banished in the moon for a thousand years. Everyone else Celestia knew growing up is long since dead, and everyone nowadays in Canterlot has had their family serve her as a Goddess Queen for generations.

Nobody's going to befriend them. Her immortality and status kind of get in the way.

The circumstances were different each time.

Celestia sent Twilight to deal with the Nightmare Moon situation because she didn't want to have to banish her sister again. She was placing her hope on the idea that Twilight would be able to use them in a way that would save her sister from what she'd become.

And when Discord showed up, she and Luna couldn't use the Elements against him. The Elements had become "attuned", say, to Twilight and her friends. That's when they took their jewlery forms. Or at least that's the idea I got.

Celestria can be friends with other godlike , immortal (or with long lifespan) being or rulers other lands.

age and backgrounds don't matter whit friendship Only the soul of the person matters. Eros on the other hand does care about that stuff... But phileal doesn't

Ehhh yeah I think I like my Slice of Life better.

Really, everything that I found good about "The Return of Harmony" is present in some degree in all of the slice-of-life ones. The drama, the "d'awww friendship" scenes, the characterization, everything. Hell, you could probably fit Discord into a slice-of-life if you wanted to. But...the "defeat the BBEG" conflict resolution could use work.

I'm actually not that bothered by the manner in which Twilight got her friends back. It's a memory spell, right? As Twilight brings those memories to the forefront of everyone's mind, Discord's spell breaks. But the rehash of TASTE THE RAINBOW MF and the way Discord grabbed the Idiot Ball at the end—I mean, if you need a simplistic way to defeat the villain a simplistic villain (contrary to his Ep. 1 portrayal) is kinda necessary, right? I liked episode one and the first part of episode 2 much more than I liked the last bit.

Start here and work yourself upward.

*shrug* Since there's no data about whether Celestia has friends or not, it's just our interpretations of the canon, both of them equally valid.

Thing is, personalities can age as well; Celestia has had such a wealth of experience that anyone she meets is going to have a drastically different outlook on life due to having not experienced so much of it.

Oh sure But in my experience and from The Four Loves book I read. Friends only need to have something in common. When they both see the same truth.

Age, maturity, power etc don't matter in friendship. Anyone could potentially be friens with anyone. That's why I believe Celestia could befriend the mane cast.

Really, all of this wouldn't have happened if without the school field trip. Celly has only herself to blame.

Just saw the second episode.

IT was really good, better than the first one I think. The exploding chocolate milk was the best part. I'm a bit sad to see Discord likely won't be coming back, but I'm looking forward to a return to slice o' life, I guess.
