Well, there's "And That's How Equestria Was Made", and some others I haven't seen/read. Don't let that stop you. There is nothing truly original in Bronydom anymore.

the only time I'd given any though to the legal ramifications of what I do was a vague notion of repurposing TCYB into a real novel. I'm not sure exactly what it's considered when you're 'inspired' by a work, but considering how far removed from canon I ended up making the only 3 canon character, I think I could potentially pull it off. Not that I'm likely to.

I jeez, I just found out there's no less than three different MLP:FIM abridged series listed here on tvtropes. I love abridged series! but are they any good? Has anyone watched these?

I watched an episode of Friendship is Witchcraft. It was... meh.

The Pinkie in it has a lot of potential, but it leans to heavily on Comedic Sociopathy to do anything good with her character.

It's tough, believe me. But if you can scrounge up some fans, they make it more than worth it.

Friendship Is Dragons. Ever read Darths and Droids or DM of the Rings? It's basically that in Equestria.

And that's how Equestria was Made. A Gag a week basically.

Friendship Is Betrayal. Grimdark uses screencaps from the show but is basically a whole new story.

There is at least one webcomics about MLPFIM stuff.

I can't remember title.

Now suddently I can remember that title :P

Mentally Advanced Series is my favourite but popular opinion is mixed.

What was it based on? Or 'inspired' by?

@ Apple: Firstly you'll need to decide on an update schedule, a reliable schedule will make you more appealing at least that's how it works with me. I'd recommend a large break between updates to start with, maybe try weekly. If it turns out you can update faster you can always change the schedule later. Also build up a buffer to start with between comics you've done and comics you've uploaded. And you'll need somewhere to put it.

Of course I've never done something like this so I'm just parroting information I've heard from other webcomics.

No wait first you should decide on content that's more important.

@Apple: Your best bet is to get a basic idea of the story you want as a whole - not necessary details, but just a skeleton idea. Maybe have the first, say, 10 comics planned out.

If you want ot have a regular schedule, build yourself a buffer of several comics made before you start posting them.

Beyond that, you'll just want to spread the word so you can get an audience quickly, and find a really good host.
