@Ginger I really don't let many things bother me. If the book is good with a decent plot I usually enjoy it. Granted if I find something utter shit then I will be sure to let you know but it takes some real SHIT.

@Crow As I said, I actually LIKE feeling like the villain is a legitimate threat, so seeing that everything he did was pointless because he'd ALREADY lost just feels like a massive slap to the face when it's revealed. It makes me go "Then why the fuck should I have cared?! They were in NO danger whatsoever"

@ginger: I'm not saying I'd want every story to go that way, because you're right, that would be unsatisfying and boring. But I like variety in my media, and that includes the methods the hero uses to win.

A friend invited me out for lunch, basic enough. He had a fellow I'd talked with briefly but never really much with... he seemed like a decent enough guy, if a tad irritable, for the start... but as conversation went on it just got stupid. Like, talking about such things as what kinds of people he would kill and how if he could, wanting to see the world end so he could go on a killing spree, how badass his family history is... it was all violence and brutality. It was just idiotic. I dodged out at the first chance I got, but... eugh.

He was a colleague. As in, a game designer. It's not exactly the most 'badass' career choice. Not that we can't potentially be tough, but there's certainly no point in talking about it. He's just one of those violent types. Not the kind of guy I'd want to hang out with any sort of regularity.

Wow, that sounds unpleasant. How does someone not get that that makes them sound like a psychopath?
