Actually, they probably would have been too late if Stark hadn't clicked onto the location due to Loki's MO, and got there early.
...Actually, Banner would have made it there, but Hulk wouldn't have been able to stop the nuke.
In any case, Loki rather needed Stark Tower, due to the Arc Reactor.

@Blissey: I suspected as much. Say, have you ever met a city-living Cubone who insists on wearing some kind of hat or helmet or bucket instead of a traditional skull-helm?
Except that he had a reason for choosing Stark Tower. First off, he needed a large power source and Stark's Arc Reactor was the most convienent. Second, it would allow the aliens to take out one of the biggest human cities with the element of surprise.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Loki was right to doubt the alien army if they could be beaten up so thoroughly by a handful of Avengers.
Loki's plan was doomed to failure from the start. The alien army was so pathetically small and weak that it really posed no threat to Earth at all. Even if they'd been left alone long enough to bring all of their forces through unopposed, pretty much any military on earth could have dealt with them.
Element of Dullness.
Okay, random cross-fandoms line of questioning: what sort of characters do you think each of the main 6 would play in
Guild Wars? Rarity, I imagine, would be primarily a Mesmer specializing in Illusion Magic, just as one example, while Fluttershy would be the sort to play a Beastmaster Ranger.

Say what now? The scale of the army was such that they were
extremely lucky that they subscribed to Ender's Game style biology.

That big flashy thing behind all of them?
I think that's the sun. And if the sun wins, Celestia wins, so Ponies win.

Well, I'm off to bed. Night, folks.
The Care bears aren't powerful anymore. God-empress Lauren has made ponies even stronger than their ancestors, so this will be a complete rout. Also, we get a nice collection of new Ursa constellation's.
Well Tony took down the regular aliens with ordinary missles, but it's not clear if they could have taken down the dragons. Still the military would have a good chance. Those aliens were pathetic. Though they couldn't be beaten by just
any military.
Darnnit, my post failed to go through again.

Are there any clown pokemon?

That's more like a mime than a clown. I'm so bored
