@Marston: To be quite honest I really do agree with your arguments, and I disagree with others who think that ponyville's reaction was all that realistic. Then again the episode's premise wasn't all that realistic either, but I really don't think that matters in this case.

Oddly enough I still do like PC as CMC episode, I just think it was very flawed.

Well it was the return of a one shot character, that rarely happens. It was as anticipated as a Trixie Returns episode would be.

And I don't mean totaly completely RL realistic, there is plenty of exaggeration, I mean they don't write it by following "The big book of how to Write a Story" Equestria =/= earth there are differences, and yes Story structure does sometimes win out, I'm saying people saying something is flawed JUST because it doesn't follow preconceived expectations of how a story SHOULD be written are wrong.

becuase if we did that everytime Celestia showed up or was mentioned, we'd be in the 30, 000 range by now, it's rare and so gets a bigger reaction.

@Ginger: Well yeah, she's appeared in one episode since the pilot. Of course people are going to be happy to see her. Absence and hearts and all that. I remember people being pretty pleased with Celestia's cameo in It's About Time, and she gets way more screen time.
