Teleportation works well enough. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to float in mid-air when they can do point to point teleportation already.

Twilight should have no problems self-levitating. It's more efficient to teleport most of the time, though, so the power is largely meaningless.

I like to think that Applejack is the more succesful member of the rivalry. Plus Carrot Top gives things away and lets the Hooves family crash there. So she's throwing in some extra hours in an attempt to keep up.

Ginger you need to cool the hell down when it comes to Twilight's spellcasting ability. Not every powerful (Utility) spell instantly makes someone a Mary Sue.

I love carrots.

Oh yeah. Carrot oesn't get along well with her family compared to Applejack. The only exception is her baby sister. Partially because her mother is a Canterlot snob and didn't appreciate it when Carrot changed her name from Golden Harvest the Fifth.

As for characters who can't teleport, notice that none of them have ever been seen lifting anything exceedingly large with their telekinesis. They need to be able to lift at least their own weight for self-levitation, and Twilight is the only unicorn to demonstrate the ability to do so. Carrot Cake is very small, so she was able to it, and it's likely that she'll grow out of the ability as she gets bigger and whatever magical surges that babies have subside.
