The severe flanderization of everypony in S2 was another reason why I didn't really like it. Moving on.

Anyone else here following Turnabout Storm? It's quite awesome.

And yes, a mere synopsis counts as "little". Synopses always lie

Or even worse, base all your opinions on the title alone

You have no idea how glad it makes me that someone else sees how Twilight was Flanderized by her Season 2 episodes. Everybrony else thinks I'm crazy!

Are you kidding? That was my main complaint about Lesson Zero. I'm not sure how you missed it.

it wasn't Flanderization, that's when a character evolves over time to be more more focused on one little part of there character. The Mane 6 are till just as well rounded and same, they just had a few episodes where they got exaggerated a bit, but even then most of those were either understandable, or a severe case of Depending on the Writer, not an overall shift in portrayal.

I don't want to start this discussion again, but if you think Twilight was Flanderized, then you're ignoring all of the times she acted neurotic in Season 1, especially when it came to anything dealing with Celestia. Swarm of the Century and A Bird in Hoof being the primary examples. Also, if she really was being Flanderized, then she would have acted that way all the time in Season 2 and not just when something was worrying her (two episodes out of twenty six).

I didn't mind Lesson Zero because that was the first time it really happened. I don't mind Flanderization on occasions but it happened too much in S2 for my tastes.

To be honest, I'm just glad I'm no longer the only "Season One was better" guy around here.

So, what's your favorite fan work period?

I don't actually read fanfiction much, but I write some.

I watch PONY.MOV, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of it.

Has there ever been a show with multiple writers that doesn't occasionally have consistency issues? Genuinely curious.

I will say that Lesson Zero and It's About Time did exaggerate her neurosis more than season 1 ever did, but I don't think it did so to such an extent that it was out of character for her.

[up] [up]I still think that S1 was more consistently good than S2. S2's high points were just higher than S1's.

Favorite fan work? That's hard to say. In the musical department there are so many good songs that I couldn't pick one. In the Fanfiction department I fare little better. I would have to say that I hold a place in my heart for Fo E -dodges brick-

and agin the issue is misuse of terminology, there can not be multiple instances of flanderization unless you are talking about multiple characters, NO pony has been Flanderized, they have suffered from a few bits of Character Exaggeration at times. but overall they remain the same well rounded ponies they always were, and even the exaggerations were based on established issues they had from the start.

[up]FOE was AMAZING!

Honestly, I don't consume a lot of fanworks in general. I like two or three Tumblrs, some PM Vs, and some series, and a little music, but I'm just not big on fan-fiction, which occasionally makes this thread tedious.

@Moe Season One was great. It's just that Season Two was equally great, IMO.

We got a lot of character development on season 2

One quick example

  1. Rarity and Aj passed from haing each other to actually learn their lesson 1 and became great friends

that isn't Flanderization

Yeller does reviews? I thought that was Teeth's thing.

[up]In 'It's about Time', she spends the entire montage cleaning off Applejack, which is kind of adorable.

Actually, there is one other thing I think everyone can agree on. Instead of explaining it though, I'll just show you.

Season 1 Episode Focus:

Rainbow: 4
Fluttershy: 4
Pinkie Pie: 4
Applejack: 4
Spike: 2
CMC: 2

Season 2 Episode Focus:
Twilight: 2
Rarity: 2
Rainbow: 3
Fluttershy: 2
Pinkie Pie: 3
Applejack: 2
Spike: 2
CMC: 5*
Luna: 1\

I agree that that's Character Exaggeration, but it's not Flanderization unless it totally overtakes the character and becomes her defining trait throughout the entire show. That's just not what Flanderization is. There are too many instances in S2 where she isn't exaggerated to call it that.
