The world is not beautiful; therefore, it is beautiful.
Holy shit, you mean somebody aside from me watched that anime?
And, look. I know this is exactly the wrong place to be saying this, but
life doesn't suck. The world is not a bleak and gray and depressing place. Yeah, okay, there's bad stuff in it, sure. People do bad things to each other, yeah. But what is there out there that's really all that bad? War?? Disease? Famine? Yeah, all bad things. But you want to know what there is out there that's
good?
Sunsets. Poetry. Movies. Video games. Cute boys and girls. waking up in a room well lit by mid-afternoon sunshine. the sound that change makes when it jingles in your pockets. relaxing on your favourite couch. Days off. That's just the small stuff! You want big stuff, I got big stuff! spending time with family! Dancing with someone you just met at a bar! Going to class, or work, to do something you're passionate about!
FRIENDS. How can you, any single one of you, watch this show and tell me with a straight face that life is bad? This show isn't escapism from a lousy life, this show is the reason life is good. And not just because it makes us laugh - that's good too, yeah. But I'm talking about knowing that somewhere out there, right now, there is a team of people so passionate about making a good product that they can produce something like this. 22 minutes that can completely sap away any foul mood, any sad or angry thoughts. All because a team of people dedicated themselves to making. us. happy. I don't care how much bad there is in the world. That, right there? That more than makes up for it. And there are
thousands of these people. People who want nothing more than to see someone else smile. Even if they don't know it, even if it's just someone that they know, like their children. Not everyone has to dedicate their lives to making the world fun like I do, as long as they care about making even a single person happy, that's enough to make the world is amazing. Yeah, you know what? Everything is amazing. If you don't think so, you're not looking hard enough. I want you to walk outside, and find a flower. Look at it, real hard. Study the colours. Smell it. Watch a bug crawl across it. Now dig it up - don't pick it, keep the roots intact. Take it, and give it to someone you think is cute. Tell them that you kept the roots, so that they can put it in a pot. Tell them that they deserved that flower. Then come back in here, and tell me that life isn't good.
