Even with those factors my opinion is that Rainbow, with over ten times (IIRC) the wing power of Fluttershy and the fact that she is close to being a pro flyer compared to Fluttershy who almost never flies, should still have been able to out fly her.

How bout Pony Fantasy 6? That's always a great thing to talk about.

Another thing that I think highlights the difference between S1 Pinkie and S2 Pinkie:

Compare how she reacts to the Hydra ("Feeling Pinkie Keen") vs. how she reacts to the Cerberus ("It's About Time"):

Hydra - Pinkie's pupils dilate, she goes stiff from fear, doesn't (possibly can't) scream... has to be pulled out of danger by Applejack and only then does she snap out of it and become able to run. The whole time she treats the Hydra as if its a very real danger and (except for one moment) puts off being silly.

Cerberus - Does a cut-away gag where she calmly walks out onto the screen, asks for your attention then runs around screaming her head off, and continues doing this well after the Cerb has left.

The S1 instance, Pinkie is behaving as a real, believable person. The S2 instance, she's behaving as a cartoon character (I mean granted, she is a cartoon character, but I've never been a fan of Looney Tunes).

@Ginger you could always reload and try to keep flutters in your party. It makes Phantom Train MUCH easier.

Re: comment about Executive Meddling on previous page - I also recall hearing that Applejack's signature tree-kick was a result of meddling. Another positive change IMO. It almost makes me wonder how the show would've turned out if there had been no meddling.

RD's wingpower was 16.5, and FS's three wingpowers were 0.5 (Nervous!FS), 2.3 (Confident!FS) and 5.0 (SERIOUS!FS), so that's only correct if you go by FS's initial nervous test (and she was only that bad that time because it felt like a performance to her; earlier in the episode RD reminds her that "Just last week you went into that wicked nose dive to save that falling baby bird right before it hit the ground").
