I wonder what the implication that the Cutie Mark Crusaders' fighting released Discord will do to their reputation. there really aren't enough people who dislike them for them to qualify as Scrappies but it still concerns me a little.

I think they're still considered the Scrappies by some people

I like how he'd played like Q from the first episode of ST:TNG. "I'm having fun with you, but if I wanted to I could kill you so hard your great-grandparents would never marry."

Like Loki: having fun at your expense, but don't believe for a second he's not evil.

They are Base Breakers not Scrapies.

But the didn't release Discord. Celestia comes right out and says that it was because ownership of the elements changed. Heck, their fighting was probably caused by his growing influence.

Horever I prefer Q from later episodes. Later he was more fun and he actually was victorious at end of episode.

How serious do you think Pinkie was being when she said that she'd prefer a world ruled by chaos since it has Chocolate Rain?

Just watched the new episode. First thoughts:

1. There is no way "chocolate rain" wasn't an intentional reference
2. I love how Fluttershy simply couldn't be corrupted with Discord's trickery. "I am weak and helpless!"
3. Rarity carrying the boulder was hilarious. Especially when she made Twilight carry it for her
4. The end credits listed Lauren Faust as Executive Producer. I thought she stepped down?

Celestria is Picard for Discord.

That makes Twilght Riker. So maybe Discord will over her same powers? That will be like Hide And Q.

But I would prefer Dis Qord pulling Q Who. And introducing some other evil to Equestria.

Finally saw the episode and got a chance to get on the intertubes. Pardon if I've repeated everyone else's points.

Point-o numero uno: Discord is so freakin' awesome it's Beyond the Impossible. I agree completely with Rich Reeders, just because he looks goofy doesn't mean you should underestimate him. I really hope he's a recurring season 2 villain because I can see him driving a lot of plots.

Point-o numero two-o: Seeing Celestia being grim and serious is very unusual. No more unflappable chessmaster here.

Point-o numero three-o: Fluttershy is so incorruptible, Discord had to do it himself.

Point-o numero four-o: Yes, Discord is a dirty filthy cheater, but what would you expect from a malicious chaos god? Rules are too ORDERLY.

Point-o numero five-o: Is there a trope for Alternate Universe Character Allusion? Because this is an example of Tropes Are Not Bad right here.

Can't wait for next week!

x6 Not very. She was just reacting to what she'd seen so far, which was lots of candy. Pretty sure not all of Discord's antics would be so tasty, and she'd change her mind pretty quick once things started getting worse.

Pinkie ? Serious?

That's what I like about Discord: He set up RULES. He's pretty much a god of chaos and anarchy, the exact opposite of rules and orders. So basically he's flat out lying to them, it's their own fault theydidn't see him of all people lying. Or us even!

I knew that, but I thought she was involved in a lesser capacity this season.

I guess she produced this episode (and probably the next one) before stepping down.

No, he's more malicious than Q. And that's good.

The first two episodes were made at the end of last season, so Lauren was still in charge when they were made.

Don't forget that season 2 is not really started yet. After those 2 episodes will be some huge break before first s2 made episode will be on air.

I heard that it was a myth, "Return of Harmony" was intended as a season 2 opener from the start. It certainly felt like it; the first half was a good introduction to the characters and the environments for newcomers to get up to speed.

I love Celestia's horn lock. That was awesome!

True, they were always intended for season two, but they were still made at the end of season one production. Basically they wanted to hang on to a bunch of the people who worked on the show, so they started season 2 early to give them something to do.

One of animators say that rest of s2 will air in October.

I still prefer Discord doing more Q stuff. And thing what he done in Q Who can be considered as ultra evil.

Also wanted to say I liked how the story subverted Let's Split Up, Gang; the mane 6 wanted to stick together, but were forced to separate. No Idiot Ball here.
