@Turtle Yeah, and I wonder if the moral of the story is that such a system is fucked up and stupid. -_-

Having my preferences insulted isn't very pleasant either

I guess now would be as good a time as ever to pimp one of my stories.

And dont assume Im insulting your sensibilities, I am honestly wondering if you would find a story like that interesting because you complain that every story has characters that are naturally talented and yadda yadda.

Im insulted that you read further into my comment than I intended! tongue

@Steve: Weirdly enough, my story I linked to above is really similar to that, only shown from Celestia's perspective.

Well It sounds interesting, but it's a dystopian story, so the system in place is obviously going to be ridiculously extreme and intrinsically stupid... [lol]

And I dislike Downer Endings

Well I'm back everyone. Hello to everyone who joined while I got dinner. Goodbye to everyone who left while I had dinner.

I tend to like Dystopian stories, especiall Post-Apocalyptic types.

Although Hunger-Games annoyed the crap outta me.

My pet peeve characters are kids who are somehow more adept at things than adults are, at least ones that are annoyingly so. I can accept that they may be naturally talented in something but its the obnoxious ones that bug me.

Like Lyra from The Golden Compass... I just wanted to punch her.

At first I thought you said Jack Ryan, not Jack Rakan.

@Ginger: Yeah, Nagi has The Gift and Rakan basically fought his way to the top.

The entire His Dark Materials series wants me to go on a rant.

Y'know... in His Dark Materials, did Lyra actually do anything? Besides accidentally kill god and open up a portal from the underworld and some other stuff?

@Turtle: Were the kids in Hunger Games more adept than the adults though? I mean they were only fighting against other kids.

[up]Not really, she sort of just stumbled across plots she didn't have a lot of power to affect except accidentally.

I just wanted to punch Lyra cuz she thought she knew better and just ended up endangering herself and others a whole bunch.

Hunger games wasnt because of kids being better than adults.. I just wanted to punch Katniss because of how oblivious she was.

The Hunger Games. THAT was a story that needed a better antagonist [lol]
