I still think we give the Faust-Meister a bit too much credit. Especially since it's her awesome team that's been keeping the show great, more-so than Lauren herself
Sorry, but I gotta agree with
Peter David here: while a great and talented team is essential for the success of any new work, at the
very beginning of the whole thing is the creator, who has to bring forth raw ideas from the abstract of the naked canvas (or typewriter, or word processor). All signs indicate that Faust was the one who first crafted the mane six characters, the settings, the tone, the very rules of the series and its universe, and continued throughout the first year to tweak ideas and adjusted the contributions of others to match her vision.
Others came along and provided invaluable aid in erecting the edifice, but (again quoting PAD here) "The [creator] is the one who has to reach into the ether of nothingness and pull from it, dripping and raw, something... Everything that comes afterward is other people — pencillers, inkers, whoever — building upon the concepts that the [creator] came up with."
