Well it sounds like it at least actually has choices, unlike say, Alternamorphs.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Why, was Alternamorphs one big long
But Thou Must, or something?
Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?
Every wrong choice led to instant death on the next page, so it was actually a linear story.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Oops, I just realized that my final isn't today after all. Good thing I figured that out before I walked all the way out there.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Quoth the article:
Occasionally a game utilizing this trope will toss in a question where an incorrect answer results in a
Non Standard Game Over (God knows why).
So yeah, it still counts.
Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?
I really need to start being more careful about doubleposts. Anyway,
here's a review
if you want to find out more. I haven't actually read the book, but by all accounts, it's awful.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Well, I've been up for WAY too long tonight... I'm off to bed. Night, folks.
Wait, you were up all night Kegisak? Get some sleep!
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
I remember the Fighting Fantasy books... I was terrible at them
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
Funny you should mention... The song I'm listening to right now is called
"Up All Night".
Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?
So yeah, it still counts.
But they're not
Nonstandard Game Overs. That term doesn't really apply to CYOA books anyway.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Can someone tell me why the moon from Majora's Mask is so famous?
Random thought, I know. It's just been bugging me

You can if you keep failing and choosing the wrong options

The book has a branched structure, which has an inherent level of interaction involved. I'm rather sure that the trope is applicable, in a way.

Hell if I know. I haven't the foggiest idea what you're even talking about. /ignorantslug

Wait, why does the moon have a creepy face on it?

According to Colin, most of the players were young and seeing the moon looming over them with that creepy face scared everyone.

Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
@Fighting Fantasy I loved them. Of the ones I have I completed 'Deathtrap Dungeon', 'City of Thieves' and 'Freeway Fighter' (that one has a hell of a dick move at the end. If you enter a mansion near the end, and there are no clear signs that the house is any more dangerous than anything else, you get rabies, guaranteed. The annoying thing is that the rabies doesn't kill you until the very end of the book. You literally return home, give the supplies to your home town and finish what the quest of the book was, then die. It was more of a bad ending than a game over, but it's still a pain, as you will almost definitely do this the first time. Wow, that was a long rant...)
The internet is the realm of chaos, but not all chaos is evil.
I don't know. I don't remember if the game ever ascribes any actual malice to the moon itself, but I don't think so. The face is probably just there to make it look creepier. Which worked.
Take five of the CYOA. Brainwashed into becoming Fluttershy's slave. Probably the best ending yet mind you...

@Cookoo I'm having Fluttercrinkle flashbacks...
... not that I've read that fic mind you
