@story With Smeargle I think you're supposed to scout out a move that would be good for your Pokemon.
Greetings, everyone. I've busy with frost giants for the past few days.
FEAR MY MIGHTY MJOLNIR
But why would they give it only 1PP? Especially when it's possible for it to miss? That's just silly.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Well, if it works the move is overwritten permanently, so there really isn't any reason that you'd need more than one. And if it misses, well, they're just trolling you, I guess.
@story It can't miss unless the opponent hasn't attacked yet.
only reason it should miss is if you used it before any move got used, other wise it would just convert to the last used moved.

Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
Sketch copies a move and replaces itself with that move, yeller.
What move are you guys talking about? What does it do exactly?

Sketch it's a move unique to Smeargle and only move it learns, it copies the last move and gives it to the Smeargle permanatly, baiscly lets you load up a smeargle with ANY moves you want.
mostly just used for Egg Moves.

@ Ginger: Sketch. It permanently copies the last move used by the opponent. Can only generally be used by Smeargle. Technically it can be learnt by every pokemon up to Gen III.

Sketch will fail if the other Pokemon is not targetable or is prevented from using a move by status or if Smeargle somehow goes first.
This was in Silver. I never played past gen 2.

Actually, because Smeargle can have any moveset imaginable, it actually gets a good bit of competitive play, despite it's poor stats. It's one of three pokemon that can learn Spore, and it can learn any stat boosting moves in addition to Baton Pass, making it quite the support mon.

@PL It couldn't possibly be because I liked that episode the least of the ones given could it?

@ Ginger: When two pokemon love each other very much, the mother passes down the species and the father passes down certain moves that it knows and the child can know. Some moves for some pokemon can only be learnt in this way.
