I'm not sure I really like that kind of character, but starting a My Little Pony series with such a cynical character does show that you're in for something different. Then again, I can't say I feel that "wacky paranoid Twilight Sparkle" is much of an improvement either. She's just not my favorite, I guess.

if you really want to know beofre you get the surprise on your own about metal bending (since you now know it can happen and your close to seeing it. Toph discovers it, and is the only one that we knew can use it, but it is NOT becuase she just that good, it's becuase her tremor sense allows her to perceive the small impurities in the metal that allow her to bend it, so realistically any moderately talented Earthbender that learns how to use her tremor sense cold do it.

also, I love all Twilight Sparkle, but yeah starting out with a pony that wasn't best freinds with everyone, but not shown as Loners Are Freaks was the perfect choice.

I got to the end of chapter five and found I was phenomenally bored. And the protagonist leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

So what's the next ep of ATLA like? The one after Appa's Last Days

then yeah it gets alot better, once they get past the raiders and get a full group things go MUCH better and the fight's also get a lot more action. Pretty much once Steelhooves joins is the tipping point, but it start getting better about chapter 10 or so.
