I had to stop reading Homestuck because of the clown thing... I really dont like clowns... I got to about the point where he was activating the thing on the balcony... and the clown ghost thing was following him around... then I stopped.

Yeah, but Doc Scratch doesn't have a large role until later on. And I will agree that the Author Avatar can get annoying really quickly. At least in his more recent appearances he's a lot more self deprecating.

The Homestuck fandom seems to think that just because the author lampshades that he's using a cliche that it automatically stops being annoying.

@Ginger: I mean self-deprecating in the sense that the big bad ends up killing him. It gets the to the point where he's really just another character and the fact that he resembles the author is incidental.

@Turtle: If you hate clowns, it's a very very good thing that you dropped it.

Each of the series is largely self contained; it's more like multiple works by the same author that just happen to have the same format and are hosted on the same website. I.e. Problem Sleuth and Homestuck are separate series. Homestuck gets all the attention because it's the most recent and most elaborate.

Act 5 takes up half the length of the comic so far, crow. Their planet shows up halfway through the comic.

Er, he is actually very self-depreciating. It's not just lampshading. Plus, something happens to him.

or you can just say what happens that works too

@ Will, HS is one story. Each MSPA is a different one. Jailbreak and Bard Quest are old/unpolished/unfinished, PS is over, but HS is still ongoing.

And yeah, if you couldn't stand the benign clown, it's good you stopped before getting to the actual dangerous ones.

I never got into Homestuck. I prefer Problem Sleuth myself. (DMK Uses ultimate cheap attack, PS throws his hat down in frustration)
