I know, the way they animate the expressions seems different.
Didn't feel all that different to me.
Or maybe I just don't have the eye for such things.
Are you not entertained? Is that not why you are here?
Nightmare Moon is back on top for favourite villain in my eyes.
Tealove is best pony.

Okay, was it me or did Twinkle Shine sound a bit snobbish when she said the line about being more interested in books than friends?
looked a bit flatter, more stiff
could REALLY tell with the background ponies, they just stood still or cycled the same small animation loop over and over. I mean it's still amazing, but Season 2 just took it even further

not really, she understood books, she didn't understand freinds.

Well, she kinda was. That was the whole point.
How are you guys noticing all this stuff? (More to the point, why can't I?)

Not Twilight, the pink-haired pony.
well the first episode always has the hndicap of having the introduce everypony and set things up, and this one did it quite well. But took time away from everythng else

We need a proper flashback episode for the whole Nightmare Moon saga.
With hindsight it's clear Twi at that point was still sour on socializing after being bullied in school.
Yeah, it did a good job of introducing the characters, but that also meant that there wasn't a lot of room to spend on the plot proper, hence why Nightmare Moon ends up getting taken out rather easily.
I doubt she was ever bullied, at least not in any overt way she would notice. Hell would YOU mess with your God-princesses favorite student?

So... the one with the changelings had the benefit of not having to reintroduce everyone?

yeah, it had more time to build up the tension, lay the foundations and just have more plot, less expostion / character introduction.
