I'll vote Sweet and Elite out (I think I've mentioned before why I dislike it).
I'm not going to be around tomorrow much because I'm going to the anime convention in Chicago, but I might be back in the evening and definitely would be able to participate in any Sunday discussions.

The problem is the fact that they're even introducing other sapient species in the first place. It doesn't make any sense.
. . .why? It was established that there is a world beyond Equestria, so other sapient species are not out of the question.

Other sapient species have already been shown in the series, including Dragons and Gryphons and Mules (which means Donkeys as well).
Even artificial worlds tend to have more sapient species than you think. (my own built planet currently has several tribal-level species living semi-peacefully in the continents I'm not using)

@gingerninja, I'm going to quote something someone else said a few pages back:
I don't think it's that ponies are the dominant species. I'd go with them all being about even, but the show is My Little Pony and takes place in Equestria, so they kind of have an obligation to focus on ponies.

That there is part of the problem. The griffons and dragons and crap annoy me in FIM for the exact same reason the bushwoolies, grundles and furbobs annoyed me in the 1983 cartoon.
Also, I still can't believe there was a donkey at the Grand Galloping Gala. I just can't. Except maybe that garden-keeper (was he a donkey?)

No, he was just an old pony. And judging from the grey, old-timey filter on everything, the Grand Galloping Gala that Cranky and Matilda met at was probably years ago.

Also, it was called Equestria because it was FOUNDNED by ponies. Unless they're all MASSIVELY racist assholes then they have no reason to eject anyone who isn't a pony
