@Ginger: I don't hate any of the episodes, but Mare Do Well is lower on my list. It isn't like I avoid rewatching it.

Yeah MMDW has it's merits...it's just that the ooc of the Mane Six spoils it.

@Lurker AFID. At least for me.

and I still consider the mane cast to be justified. So no, I don't get that issue either.

The most I'd give you is the OOC nature of Ponyville

I actually didn't see them as OOC until the arguments about it showed up. MMDW is around the middle of my list. There are a bunch I'd vote off before it.

Mare Do Well. I still think it's the weakest season 2 episode, even if the scene with Dash opening the peanut butter jar is one of my favorite gags.

Mare Do Well suffers from a common problem the show has, which is that the running time isn't long enough. Sometimes this means rushed endings, but in this case it meant a rushed middle, where the cast just jumped on the extreme solution without proper buildup and looked like jerks because of it.

Along with the OO Cness of Ponyville, that's my biggest issue with the episode. That and the fact that it didn't look like RD really learned the moral herself.

@Ginger They may have been justified, but they were also hypocrites. They were lecturing RD on how a real hero is humble and doesn't showboat while boasting about how awesome Mare-Do-Well was (specifically their own achievements as Mare-Do-Well). Not to mention the fact that Mare-Do-Well didn't exactly shy away from the spotlight, showing up to a parade in her honor, and flying around showing off to cheering fans after fixing the dam.

It was just very OOC, and a Broken Aesop to boot.

I guess to pick another episode to knock off the list it would be Hearth's Warming Eve.

And for whatever it is worth I don't think the Mane Five were justified in MMDW, but we've been over that plenty of times already.

The real point of the episode was to have a super hero parody. Logic be damned.

Mare-do-Well's real problem is its just kind of boring, and also... solve a friend's ego problems by becoming Darkwing Duck doesn't make much sense. But then, considering the ponies are a bunch of loonies, they probably came up with the idea while high on meth.

I don't really see the OOC Mane 6, but Even during the first airing I felt a very OOC-ness about ponyville. Dash was more exaggerated then OOC, the rest of the Mane 6 felt fine to me.
