Having gone through the whole friends leaving school, being lonely for a few terms before eventually making new friends cycle at least twice during college, yeah, it is worth it. Those friendless years sucked.

I do wonder how The Queen came to learn about those mines. Celestia didn't seem to know her, so I don't think they'd met before

@Crow: Hey, for me the "getting to know people" cycle takes so long that I didn't really have any good friends in college because there was too much of a turnover. All the guys I got along with best were either 2 years ahead of me, or else they had to transfer elsewhere for various reasons.

If the changelings live in underground caves as some have speculated, it's possible she spent some time looking for some underneath Canterlot.

Or Cadance didn't invite him. Maybe she scheduled it when he was out of town so it wouldn't seem like a deliberate snub.

Now I'm imagining Cadence and Rarity bonding while talking about how much of a dick Blueblood is. I just imagine him knowing Cadence from a while back and hitting on her all the time.

Speaking of Rarity, I want to see her use her Gem Detection spell in Canterlot, then freak out when the whole damn mountain lights up.
