@Kegi Yeah, but David himself was willing to do far worse just to further his own self interests. Their choices with him were to either kill him, or strand him where they did. If they let him run free, even as a rat he knew everything about them and could rat them out to their enemies with ease. It wasn't exactly an easy choice for them, and the books didn't beat around the bush in showing how horrible it was.
Wait, How could David almost singlehandedly defeat a team of shapeshifters.
Queer, the main characters have elements of Changelings in them too

@Ginger:By being sneaky and smart as hell, and being willing to actually kill his own kind. He was also a shapeshifter, of course.
Element of Dullness.

He tried to kill them all and sell the Morph Cube to the Yeerks, among other things.
I don't remember the David books really clearly, so that's all I can recall.
Interestingly: one of the
Alternamorphs books basically had you in place of David. I don't think there was a "betray everyone" choice, though. If I recall correctly, it had you become a new Animorph, and then the Ellimist basically interrupts everything and goes "this isn't how it's supposed to go. Have one of two random scenarios".

Have fun crowlover.
Gully Foyle is my name,

Deep space is my dwelling place,
and death's my destination.
The colt version of This Day Aria has one or two issues.
"I'll be there very soon" doesn't fit when they're talking about a "bride" instead of a "groom", for example.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to find them again if I can... stupid book stores in cardiff and their lack of stock
