I've read one two chapter fic. It's was pretty good, but it doesn't update often.

I've seen quite a bit of it actually. It seems to have become more popular than Dash/Mac, but not quite as popular as Applejack/Soarin.

We all know, however, the One True Pairing involving Soarin' is Soarin'/Pie

As for the Sea Ponies, they were recurring characters in G1, their initial appearance involves performing an entire underwater dance & song routine while Applejack & Megan float around helpless in a bubble. Their theme song is a very cheesy Ear Worm.

I don't believe I've ever seen any Soarin'/Pie. Maybe I should look harder.

EDIT: Oh wait, I get what you mean. I thought you meant Pinkie Pie. >_>

I read that one, too. I didn't really like it.

Only for those who use the idea for fanfics, other wise Inkie & Octavia are separate ponies. Honestly I think the "Octavia is Pinkie's sister" fanon is becoming less popular recently, but it is no less amusing in my eyes.

How does fanon lose popularity?

btw, how do "Octavia is Pinkie's sister" fans explain the way the two acted at the gala? Or to be more precise, how the two didn't act?

Basically at first a lot of people liked the idea and threw it around a lot, nowadays most people tend to think of Octavia and Pinkie's sister as separate ponies.

I always thought that was weird, because Octavia, at best, vaguely looks like Pinkie's sister.

Fanon is a subjective thing that constantly changes. Everyone has their own ideas about the characters. Some things are widely accepted, like Vinyl Scratch having red eyes, but that doesn't mean you can't draw her with blue eyes. Her canon eye color hasn't been shown yet (and probably never will).

That's actually one of the things that made the idea popular in the first place. Octavia's bandmates initial reactions are all very surprised to see Pinkie on stage. Octy's reaction? She rolls her eyes as if to say "Here we go. Again."

That said it still doesn't explain why Pinkie didn't so much as say "Hi Sis!" or how her coat colors went from blue-ish gray to brown-ish gray. (As opposed to blue-ish gray to a darker blue-ish gray if she's like Pinkie and has a "Pinkamena mode")

Its all in good fun though.

My main problem with Sea Ponies is their creepy look, and I'm worried that MLPFIM animators may not fix that.

Rest problems : their personality and role in show (or lack of it) this mostly problem of G1 cartoon, MLPFIM can easly fix that.

Their song maybe was Ear Worm but not good kinds, and their "schoo schoo ..." was painfull to listen. And they could be removed from most of stories with no impact of plot, only thing what they do was fact that they were there and nothing else.

Horever in Lavan episode they presentse was more important and interesting. Even if they had only role of poor, helpless baby ponies in distres but I was feeling sorry for them and whanted to see them safe and wet (at least until they start their catchphrase).

I don't buy that Octavia is Pinkie sister teory.

Because even if PP could forgot that fact and don't show us proof of that , Octavia would not only say hi to sister but also whanted hug or something, and whanted to met her friends.

In response to the Horse issue, horses MUST exist somewhere in MLP world. There are MULES, which require horses and donkeys to both exist first. We just don't know where they are or what their status is.

In response to the Sea Ponies, I know next to nothing about them except that most people hate them- and yes, now that it's been brought up, I realise they would present problems with the nature of Celestia's Alicorn appearance.

In response the the Octavia Is Pinkie's Sister theory: Not likely. A nice theory, but a crackpot one that shouldn't be taken too seriously. I've thought about using it in a fan fic, but not going into much detail about it- they'll just be sisters who both happen to be supervillains.

If you remove Celestia's wings and horn you get a horse!

Twilight also turned those mice into horses at the beginning of 'best night ever'.

As for the issue of Octavia not reacting to Pinkie at the gala, she was in the middle of a show, and Pinkie sort of ditched right after. It's not like they could have just stopped to chat at any moment.

What do you get from Donkeys + Ponies then?
