Hey guys I just noticed something odd.

Remember how Fluttershy's dress that she asked to rarity sucked? (she had a nest on her head lol).

Well turns out her design really was better than Rarity's

Flutershy's cool design◊. In fact her design was a bit more "high class" and less "nature like". I wonder what went wrong ?

Now I am tempted to draw a "fully realized" version of that design, but I need practice and should probably be doing other things.

She probably got caught up in trying to make it more and more nature-y and just didn't know when to stop. I mean, part of being an artist is knowing when to be subtle, which Fluttershy's final design obviously wasn't.

After my tests I think I will give it a shot too yeah I think you are right

I know ask blogs have come up a lot lately, but I'm finding Ask Lady Rarity a bit underwhelming.

Why? I don't read ask... blogs so I don't know what makes them good or not

I wouldn't call Rarity's designs exactly subtle though

It seems a bit straightforward, with attempts at being humorous minimal.

The art just looks really, really weird to me.

Compared to Applejack's hat/galoshes combo and the fact that Fluttershy was wearing a bird's nest on her head, the final designs were pretty subtle.

SO less than two weeks.

It's like Over a Barrel aired last friday and most people watch it that day or in saturday (on Youtube) and now we had one friday with no ponies and wait to next friday for Bird in the Hoof.

That's something about Rarity and her business: Most of her customers seem to come from Canterlot, and she seems to have to ship a crapton of stuff. Why didn't she move to Canterlot? She'd have a lot more business and everything would be more convenient for her primary customers.

I understand why she doesn't do it now (Friends and all that) but why didn't she make the move before making all those friends? She doesn't seem the type to enjoy a quiet little town like Ponyville, let alone build an extravagant shop in it (whose population probably wouldn't be that interested in her wares anyway)

Maybe she stayed on ponyville for taking care of sweetie bell

Maybe she isn't getting big enough business to move it to Canterlot? It seems like the most expensive and competitive part of Equestria.

She's good enough to get Sapphire Shoes, Photo Finish, and Hoity Toity's blessings with her work. I don't think she'd have trouble competing in Canterlot

Well those Celebronies come to her during series. Before she was still to small for Canterlot.

Not to mention most ponies are naked most of the time unles there is a special occasion (except in canterlot)

Also Photo Finish never liked her dresses.

but they came to her for a reason, her work I'm assuming. I'm sure they still would've found her if she was in Canterlot

Photo Finish agreed to the Photo Shoot, she must have at least seen SOMETHING good about them, then she was blindsided by Fluttershy

If real estate in Equestria works anything even remotely similar to the real world, it could simply be the fact that Canterlot is probably incredibly expensive to live in. It's like somebody with a shop in rural Pennsylvania moving into New York City.

There's also the fact that while she's had a handful of big-name orders, she's not exactly getting a constant stream of celebrity orders. As far as we know, she still makes most of her living off of local ponies.

Not to mention that she might just not want to leave her friends in Ponyville. Maybe they'll have an episode at some point where some pony contemplates moving out of town.

I believe the same thing. Canterlot definitively seems more "high class" , "exclusive" and expensive. Considering that twilight had to earn her place on a private school and that Rarity's dream was to live there due to the sophistication.

Remember how Rarity wanted to be considered as regal as the upper class ponies and fit with them in her Gala dream?. Rarity probably lacks the money to be a "high class" pony

BTW. Now that I think about it her only paying ponyville customer we saw was Diamond Tiara and she probably is a Ritch Bitch.

When did she buy something from Rarity? (haven't seen Call of the Cutie in AGES)

Question: Is Ponyville "Out in the sticks"? If so, then it would be surprising for it to have such a thriving fashion industry. But I'm not sure it's as small town as I first assumed it was.

we don't see her buying from Rarity directly, but she does get a new dress, so it's fair to assume she got it from Rarity.
