Question: Is Ponyville "Out in the sticks"? If so, then it would be surprising for it to have such a thriving fashion industry. But I'm not sure it's as small town as I first assumed it was.
we don't see her buying from Rarity directly, but she does get a new dress, so it's fair to assume she got it from Rarity.
