@ginger: It's not for everyone. I love all kinds of old mythology and stuff.

Try Job. The villain is God!

Hey Will Keaton's back? Care to explain the reference you made earlier?
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".

@ Story, some churches feel that Saturday is really the Sabbath, seeing as how it's the seventh day in the week.

Knew one guy who was part of a small Christian off shoot (ok ok his wife told him he was a member one day, just like she told him he was now a vegetarian. yeah he was whipped) basicly all he really knew about his "religion" was that the Catholic Church was EVIL becuase Saturday was really the Sabbath not Sunday, and the Pope was the Anti-Christ.

Oh and apparently not only was Genesis entirely correct, but the reason all the dinosaurs died was that the evil angles of Satan convinced all of them to attack Noah's Ark and so God killed them all with lighting bolts. Yeah.......

Can we go back to ponies and drop Bible subjest?

Or can I say what I really think about Bible (Old Testament mostly)?
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

@ginger: Actually... I was, uh, implying that God was the villain.

Because he's sort of a complete bastard in the old testament.

@ginger: The Prince of Egypt had a GREAT sympathetic villain. What didn't you like?

[up] Yeah, I know, right? I'm going to Hell. wink

Okay, to clarify, pretty much all serious scholars believe that the Number of the Beast refers to the Emperor Nero. The numerical value of the figures in his name add up to either 666 or 616 depending on what language you base the calculations on.

@Kegisak: Yeah, part of the reason I'm going for my masters now is to combat those sorts of erroneous readings. The vast majority of people who read The Bible are very much unaware of the difference between description and prescription, and they tend to totally ignore the Values Dissonance that comes into play when you apply it to modern day stuff.

Also, that's the Values Dissonance stuff I was talking about. God looks almost evil from a modern-day viewpoint, but taking the typical religious mores of ~1000 B.C. into account, it's actually progressive in some areas.

Anyway, back to ponies. tongue No more religion talk.
