A point that makes the ending make a lot more sense: Keep in mind that the changling queen was feeding off of Shining Armor and Cadence's love. This means that:

1. It explains why she was so much more powerful than Celestia; SA and Cadence love each other that much

2. It explains why she didn't try to stop them; she thought she had already drained all the love power out of them. She basically thought that if they summoned any more Love Power, she'd just siphon it off like she'd been doing and it would make her stronger. Of course she'd let them build it up.

So, if Celestia and Luna embody the sun and moon, Cadence embodies Love then? Makes sense.

And thus, Hype Backlash was soundly averted. We got songs, reprises of songs, a Villain Song, epic fight scenes, the Power of Love being weaponized for both good and evil. Not much more I could possibly ask for.
