Yeah, but Celestia's done a pretty good job, I guess, and she'll live forever so that's not as much of a problem as a real monarchy.

I think part of the reason the "Tyrant Celestia" (that I don't at all support beyond a joke) meme became so popular is because it played up our general fear of absolute dictatorships. It's hard for human to believe that that kind of power and near-utopia status can exist without some kind of pull-back.

Of course, that's probably over thinking it a bit, but what else are we to do? :P

Well, Princess Celestia has had over 1000 years to get good at being an all powerful ruler. Granted, she has made a few mistakes every once and a while, but for the most part, she is very good at what she does.

The Swamp, Guru Pa'tic (whatever it's spelled}several other minor things all hint at energy bending, the library episode brings in the Lion Turtle, which is something so ancient, only a library just as ancient will have info on it. Yes it is much to light to be foreshadowing, but it is enough to have set up enough hints and base that the end isn't an asspull

My headcanon is still that Celestia is only in charge and a princess because the ponies WANT her to be in charge. She would step down and leave if they felt they didn't need her anymore

@ Ginger My Little Alicorn you'd like that part then, it's exactly what happened, Celestia and Luna took over after Dicrod was defeated becuase all the ponies leaders had been killed during his rein, they planned to set up a system for ponies to govern themselves and slowly give power to them, but every time they tried to step back, the ponies wouldn't hear of it.
