It's a lot better overall than A Bird In The Hoof.

Seriously? A Bird In the Hoof was one of my favorite episodes. Over A Barrel focused too much on the side characters. The best scene in that episode was the stuff on the train at the beginning before the buffalo showed up.

I really like how everyone has different favorite episodes. In fact, he only consistent ranking among I can think of is MMDW being the bottom or near the bottom. Nothing has managed to unseat A Dog and Pony Show as the top episode yet for me, but I can't think of anyone else who shares that sentiment.

@Ginger and I like it too. It just happens to be at the very bottom of my rankings in terms of episodes. It really says something for the quality of the show when I can still seriously enjoy the episode that I consider the worst in the series.

@ Lurker, I agree, MMDW is ONLY bad when compared to other FIM episodes, it is still head an shoulders above almost all other options.

esspeicaly since the biggest issues I have with it are about how OOC stuff felt, taking on it's own there' little bad about it.

The only episode I dislike is MMDW, and that's because the Mane 6 were acting OOC and being jerks, but let's not open that can of parasprites.

Has anyone figured out who Norse Thunder's main is?

MMDW is near the middle of my list actually. It had great action and music. A number of season 2 episodes were just bland to me in comparison.

That scene alone is enough to make the episode one of the best. Plus the Horse drawn horse drawn carriages thing was awesome too.

@Crowfall: The episode isn't bad per se, I just think that the mane cast felt rather out of focus. They were only tangentially related to the plot as a whole. Of course, that's just a personal preference thing. And I'm probably going to get lynched for this, but I actually found Braeburn kind of annoying.

Hey, I liked it. Personally, I'd rank The Cutie Pox, Secret of my Excess, and Hearts and Hooves Day below it.

Over a Barrel is awesome. There are just way to many good jokes on the setting. Horse drawn horse drawn carriages, mild west dances, salt licks. And Braeburn's enthusiastic AAAAAAPPLEOOSA!

Sorry Scootaloo, but I think Featherweight's photos somehow got onto the internet, so now they're going to be pretty much nigh-indestructible.

Yeah, distribution of character focus isn't something that concerns me, so that part of OAB didn't bother me. Heck, I'm the guy who thinks the CMC get near equal billing with the mane 6 and isn't bothered by it in the least.
