I for one prefer the Ditzy Doo name for our favorite gray pegasus. Its a name actually used in the show and I have a feeling the higher ups at Hasbro would find the name "Derpy Hooves" to be unsuitable for a possible little girl's toy.

simple explanation, with personal experience: My great-grandmother would often lament how she managed to produce someone so stodgy as my grandmother. So, it's not hard to guess that maybe grammie pie held off on visits because her son/daughter was so boring, until Pinkie taught them to have a bit of fun.

^Seconded. Her daughter's name could go either way; 'Dinky Hooves' is just as cute as 'Dinky Doo'.

Some people tend to mistake Cloudkicker for Ditzy, too. Her mane's just a few shades off from Ditzy's, and she's got a grey coat, too - the main noticeable difference is that Cloudkicker's not walleyed.

Is dinky purely fanon btw? cuz I haven´t heard of her outside of this thread

^^Her relationship to Ditzy, her name, everything is pure conjecture. She shows up in only a few frames during Winter Wrap-Up and doesn't appear again, as far as I know, since foals aren't really part of many of the crowd scenes.

Actually Cloudkicker (Thank you Google!) is purple, and she makes her own Derp Face in Griffon the Brush Off

Dinky also appears in "Call of the Cutie" where she has constantly changing cutie mark◊ and one brief moment where she's blank. Also as far as I know she never appears on screen at the same time as Ditzy/Derpy, at least in this episode (I checked! Frame by frame!)

Also, I had multiple diabetic heart attacks while searching for that Dinky picture on ponibooru. Reminds me actually... where did the fanon that she's Ditzy's daughter come from? Is it just the similar hair? Did someone wright a fan fic and it just caught on from there?

I think the fanon of Dinky being Derpy's daughter came from Call of the Cutie. People figured that any adult ponies who were there were probably with a child or sibling, like with Applejack showing up to check on Applebloom. For some reason the only pony people bothered to apply this to was Derpy, and they chose Dinky as her daughter because, um... she's cute?

I don't like Ditzy Doo name. Derpy Hooves is fandom character, is symbol of Bronies, she should have name what fans give her not some random offscreen pony. And Derpy Hooves sound better, and cutier.

For me Ditzy Doo is Derpy with red mane who bring back birds during final montage, that would be nice feeting with Ditzy joke earlier.

Also I don't like idea of Dinky being Derpy dauther, sister that would be nice but I can't imagine Derpy as mother, for me she is to young, in Mane Cast age. Proof - Young Flier Competition, Derpy was in this, so she must be in similar age as Rainbow Dash or Rarity. Off course she was in audience so it can't be ultimate proof but it can be proof for my multiple Derpys teorii.

Only way I can acept other fanon interpetion is that teorii about many grey pegasuses named Derpy Hooves or Ditzy Doo.

Derpy does show up in Twilight's flashback in Cutie Mark Chronicles, crosseyed and alongside Carrot Top no less! Then again, so do pretty much all the other popular background ponies... To each their own, I guess.

Anyways, I don't know if its been brought up, but apparently the Italian dub will be getting its own unique main theme, here's a commercial with it, as well as some Italian man's voice... Also, someone on Equestria Daily said its going to be sung by the same woman who sang the G1 Italian theme. Little bit of old-school cred.

Thought it was interesting.

^^^Two facts regarding Ditzy are very important to this issue:

1). The pegasus known as Derpy Hooves has been confirmed to have a larger role in season 2. 2). Hasbro will never introduce a character named Derpy.

You don't understand, Death Cloud, that while 'Derpy' is used as an affectionate name by most bronies and a lot of people like Ditzy a lot, the word 'Derpy' is an insult. 'Ditzy' is nowhere near as harsh as 'Derpy', and I really think that 'Ditzy' suits her better. She's just clumsy, she's not a moron.

Lauren did say that if the fans call her Derpy, she's fine with that.

What fans seem to think is that Derpy is her official name, since they been using it so much. It is incredibly easy to convince yourself that something is true the more you say it, think it, and see others use it.

I stand by other fans here with this claim: DERPY WILL NOT BE THE NAME HASBRO USES. IT IS STILL BY AND LARGE A FAN NAME ONLY.

@Death Naming a character Derpy would do some serious damage to Hasbro's reputation once the moral guardians caught wind. Doing so would be like taking a couple stacks of thousand dollar bills and setting them on fire.

I agree, "Derpy" might be accepted by the staff of the show, and all the adult fans, but there's no way it's going to be made official. Given that "Derpy" can be interpreted as a slur against those with mental handicaps, it's incredibly unlikely that it'll ever be used in official material.
