About the language question, I speak American English as my native language, and I know basic Japanese from having taken it in college. I know some kanji, but I usually require the furigana to understand the written Japanese, which at least means I can understand most things aimed at younger audiences who wouldn't have learned all their kanji yet (such as the Sailor Moon manga or some Pokemon books I've found at a Japanese store). I also know a little bit of French and Spanish from when I took them in high school and elementary school respectively. When I was in high school, I visited Canada with my parents and we went to Quebec so I could practice my French. I ended up basically being the translator for the family, which was interesting (it probably would have been more enjoyable had I not caught a bad cold by that point in the trip).

Languages? My native language is South African English. I can speak Afrikaans, but not well. I also learned some Zulu and French, but I've forgotten most of what I learned.

On languages, I speak American English. I also once knew how to read and speak Latin, a little French, and some Japanese. Unfortunately most of it has been lost due to lack of use.
