I watched two stories from the G1 series.
Yep. FIM is much, muuuuuuch better.
Not doubting FIM is the best, just saying G1 is second, and not all that bad by 80's standards.

Well the Penguin King wanted to freeze the entire world and beleived that otehr animals didn't deserve to live since they were too weak to withstand the cold, but other than that, there was no resemblance. But people exaggerate as usual.

Honestly, the one episode of G1 I watched was, while bad, somehow rather undeniably enjoyable. In spite of all it's flaws some element of heart did come through, which is interesting. Without that tiny little glimmer of care it would have been completely wretched, but it wasn't.
in other news, Germany has had DVD's released for season 1 as well as CD's with audio book style retellings of the episodes
First 6 episodes only so far.

I enjoyed first cartoon (both 80s MLP are G1). It have flaws but it good (for 80s at least).
It have cool or interesting villains and side characters. Only if ponies were at least half cool as in MLPFIM. OK few of them are, and Wind Whistler is on level of MLPFIM ponies.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
