Yeah, Dune is a pretty influential Sci-Fi book because of it's in-depth treatment of politics. I personally found it interesting, if a bit pretentious. Paul definitely comes across as a bit of a Mary Sue sometimes, and the Aerith and Bob incidents can be rather jarring. I mean, "Duncan Idaho", really?

If anything I think it's biggest flaw though is that sets up all sorts of cool ideas but leaves them in the background rather than doing a whole lot. Like Paul's sister in the first book; the concept behind the character is really interesting, but she doesn't do much. That said, I haven't read any of the sequels, so she might be more important later.

@Ginger: The main villains are House Corrino, House Harkonnen, and prolly the those strange little Tleilaxu.

I'm still interested with the idea of Earth Ponies starting a Desert Colony Town. Cloudsdale's gonna need to send a moisture-control branch over there.

That too. Although I'm not sure how he managed to get away with the Single-Biome Planet and still be taken seriously in regard to creating ecosystems.

I've always had a dislike of Thursdays, myself.

Sundays are the worst.

I dislike fridays... I can never be bothered working

Sundays are only bad because my folks seem to be the biggest pain in the ass on that day for some strange reason. But I REALLY hate Tuesdays.

I like Saturdays.
