one, that is in no way NMF, two, he didn't, he told them to get lost when they were there acting as Gabby Gums to try and get a new story he was telling the CMC as gossip columnists to get lost, not the CMC as little fillies.

I mean Twilight doing something like blocking off the library entirely over something like that is kinda OOC for her

Well I don't think it was out of character. Twilight has a long history of hugely overreacting to things.

@David I thought Big Mac's outburst was really harsh, considering how chill he is normally. It was nice though, because it really helped to show how much of an outcast the CMC had become.

But she's denying books to the Ponyville public! We know how much those ponies like their books, just look at how packed that library is on a typical day.

That sounds like Some New Guy. He was posting something similar about them being treated like terrorists earlier.

One thing I've come to appreciate is the creative control the dev. team does. With the show's main audience being young girls, that doesn't leave a whole lot of wiggle room for story or expansion (not without the dev team getting executive meddling involved). So, whenever the dev team does something like expanding the Equestrian world, develops characters, or shouting out to the brony community. As such, I've enjoyed every second of Trixie's name drop and Big Mac's lines in this episode.

@Sky I took it more as how much their gossip had affected AJ and Big Mac.

I think it's a mark of how idealized Equestria is that gossip is such a grave offense.

@ Ginger, it's just one person that has an overreaction to something they've taken way out of proportion. Once again, bell curve, you will always find SOME person that is offended/hates/overreacts to ANYTHING.

@Bluespade: True, although this isn't exactly a "preparation for a pressing issue" like her other freakouts are. This is more of a revenge thing, which just feels weird coming from her.

I don't think that Big Mac was all that out of line either; the Apples have always taken family seriously, and given how Apple Bloom basically tossed them under a bus to get a good story I can see why he'd be upset. It's not like he booted her out of the family or anything. It was more of a "after all the crap you put us through we want you to leave us alone".

And yeah, just to clarify, my reaction to the general reaction was more "Uh, guys, aren't you overdoing it a bit" rather than "HOW COULD THEY BE SUCH HORRIBLE PONIES DOING THAT TO CHILDREN". I think it's understandable, just a bit more than was really needed.

Yeah, seriously, all anyone did was refuse to talk to them for a bit. THEY WEREN'T EVEN PUNISHED AT ALL.

And he said he didn't want to see them "NOW", not that they should go away forever

The entire town essentially telling them to fuck off sounds like punishment to me.

I still think that they should have published their final article as "we're sorry, and also Diamond Tiara was blackmailing us into it with these embarrassing pictures"; it would have been more satisfying seeing DT's plan get turned against her.

[up]I think the universalness of it is what the problem is; I can understand the individual ponies that they targetted being bitter, but everyone in town...even for Ponyville that's harsh.

@crow Well, everyone else in Ponyville was avoiding them, so I wouldn't say outcasts is such a bad description.

I thought it was hilarious how the show cut from Big Mac telling them to GO AWAY!! straight to them hanging out in the clubhouse on his farm.

[up][up]That's just shifting the blame. They were the ones who chose to do it in the first place.

Yeah, being shunned by everyone you know already seems like a pretty bad punishment itself.

@ JT...except she WASN'T, at least not when they wrote any of the articles. It was only the last article that they tried to write that was under blackmail, and It seems they DID tell on her about that, but the article would have no reason for it. It was them owning up to there mistakes, taking responsibility for it, and apologizing, it would have cheapened it to say "Oh and we only did it becuase DT made us"

So... everyone had a problem with the CMC and shunned them... what about Cheerilee? What was her reaction to all of this? Everyone else knew what was going on

@Blue In his rage, he kicked it outside of Sweet Apple Acre's borders.

@ginger She was on vacation, I guess.

Also, since Mayor Mare (that's her canon name now, right?) has natural pink hair, prepare for fanon about her being Pinkie's other sister.

Big Mac wasn't banning them from SAA, I mean AB lives there, he just didn't want them talking to him ATM.

They were shunned for one day. Yeah it sucks, but its hardly the worst punishment imaginable. The majority of the town was probably just trying to not end up the subject of their next story.
