We're talking about a show where Celestia or other Eldritch Abomination can make spike a pony or Rarity a dragon. That's not the issue. The issue are they're not for each other.

Rarity will eventually marry one of her neighbour stallions that took the mane6 to the Gala

PS: Firefox spell checker doesn't recognize Eldritch, so screw it.

@Badwolfwho: I personally prefer Applebloom/Spike, but that's just me.

I wonder if Dragons mature faster than ponies. Spike seems more mature than the crusaders, but they're about the same age.
