and the Cakes are already married so that's hardly shipping
Feh. The best stories happen after the guy gets the girl.

Speaking of the Cakes, how old were they when they had the twins?

There is clearly more about the Royal Wedding than is immediately apparent. Celestia and Luna are definitely planning for something. Just in case.

If RD is the village bicycle then Big Mac must be the village taxi.surprised

[up] I don't know what those are! Stop using fancy words to muddle the issue!

The Ring of Cloudcuckooland will beat the Shield of Snark.

Someone's going to try to crash the party. Literally crash.

All of a sudden I remembered the bit about the clones and the fighting. Now, the wedding was fine, but this has me just a little bit worried.

Re: the bouquet.

My original prediction is that it would be caught by a goat, but that isn't looking so likely since there aren't any in the previews I've seen.

That's a pretty long time to wait to have kids. Unless they only recently got married or something.

That, or they already had a kid that we haven't met.

What has you so upset about the finale, exactly?

Not so much "upset" as just "cautious." Despite what another poster suggested, its hard for me to "just have faith in Studio B" lately.

When I first read the spoilers, nothing really stood out to me, but the more I think about it the more the following gnaws on my mind:

1. Lots of subpar eps lately.

2. It's a two-parter about a wedding... a traditionally "girly" theme in a show that is known for defying "girly" conventions. It feeds into the feeling I've brought up before that the show is becoming more "standardized."

3. Twi having a brother just out of nowhere, when its been strongly implied she's an only child. Not only that, but he's apparently an important person. It kinda feels like they're pulling a Negima or Naruto on us*

4. It's a two-parter. None of the two-parters in this series have been especially great (though its always possible that third time is the charm).

You dislike Return of Harmony and Cutie Mark Chronies.

Cutie Mark Chronies? Is that ponies who gave themselves Chrono Trigger-themed cutie-marks? DO WANT!

[up][up][up][up] Yeah I know. They just have the whole "late parents" feel going on for me. Maybe they had difficulty getting pregnant.

What little we've seen of the promo clips show that it will be anything but girly. "Major Badass" would be closer to the mark...

With the multiple writers thing going on, would it be reasonable to point to a scene (or several) and say "this didn't happen"?

I can kind of see where you're coming from, Moe. The main problem is that you're the only person I've seen (aside from maybe Mio) who thinks that almost every recent episode is subpar, so nobody else is seeing this trend of decline that worries you.

The show has always seemed rather girly to me. It more embraces girly conventions, it just does them better than most shows.

My headcanon is always "each episode plays by its own rules, " so I'm usually forgiving of continuity snarls. Mostly, continuity only bothers me when it marks an uncomfortable trend (such as what I was saying about Twi's Flanderization a couple of hundred pages back).

Okay excuse me a second but WHAT.

It's called "the track record." If you put a batter up to plate twice and he strikes out both times, it's reasonable to expect him to strike out the third.

The show has had two 2-parters so far. "Friendship is Magic" was okay but not great, mostly brought down by the second half. And "Return of Harmony"... I don't think this forum would survive if I started on that again.

[up][up] For example, A wedding might have a clone army battle in it.

[up]I had no issues with any the the two parters. My only gripe with 'Friendship is Magic' was that is was predictable.

Being as there have only been two two-parters, that's not necessarily a rock-solid guide to go by.
I just don't see the attraction; does Derpy really like these?
