ok somepony did the math, and for those that don't want to watch the clip (yeah his voice is kinda annoying) he came up with...
1 Wingpower equals a speed of 19.5 MPH and is about 40 Horsepower
so RD was pulling 315 MPH and 668 horsepower during the first test run.
and yeah I'm sure it actually represents something else inherent to pegasi abilities, but it also comes out to those numbers....ponies are bucking badasses.

"It's magic" just isn't a good enough explanation for people anymore is it?

Hey, does anyone understand matroids? There's something that I'm confused about.

Unicorns. You can't explain them with science!
Seriously though, overthinking it sucks all of the fun out like poison from a wound.

@ Purple not when actaully doing the math makes the ponies even more badass then ever.
what's more badass, knowing RD can break the sound barrier? Or knowing not only can she do that but she can survive over 1000G's of acceleration. And hey we're still going with her being able do that is magic, were just showing how epic that magic makes her.

But when you get into
'how did Twilight survive being crushed by the piano' theories it's just....ugh.

@ilsemmr Was that a DBZ Abridged reference? Or did DBZ Abridged reference it from something else?
Metroids? Don't let then latch on to you!
The internet is the realm of chaos, but not all chaos is evil.
The only question I have is how the hell rainbow dash managed to break her wing in read it and weep.
Ugh, we're not getting into another anti-intellectualism debate, are we?

That new clip (they will show us entire episode in pieces), I want to see this episode now.
Nice to see DT in role what is interesting.
And that new pegasus - Spiderpony.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.

Pony Parker.
@ils I just think overthinking things sucks all of the joy out of it. If we knew how the
TARDIS works or how the toys in
Toy Story came to life it would take away a lot of the mystery and fun.

Cool! I just saw that video, and the analysis was pretty sound considering the universe given. Maybe this can be used in a fanfic for good measure.

except we all recoginize that ponies are magic, we're just trying to quantify just how badass there magic is and what rules it operates by to better figure out how to create that dimensional bridge.

I can understand how missing 8 pegasi would mean them loosing the chance to break the record (seeing how that's quite a bit of wingpower lost), and how the records can be tight. Also, it seems that in the episode, the hurricane required at least 800 wingpower to carry up the water from that lake in order for it to reach Cloudsdale. Maybe the 8 missing pegasi could have decreased the drag or somehow innately benefited the others?
