Discord is an old friend of Cadence, so he is let out with limited power to attend the wedding. This is why the wedding is happening in Equestria and not whatever land Cadence is from.

Silly Chad. I have been destitute this month! Like, seriously. I had to ask my parents to lend me a bit more money so I can actually buy food tomorrow. Graduation has required a bit of expenditure on my part (business cards, dress clothes, etc.), not to mention how much work I'd been doing meant being at the school and thus eating out a lot... I simply didn't have money for snacks.

@Purple: Ew. But he's so... greasy.
