Mage; Did you just ignore the rest of my post? I said the goddesses made her look like nothing, yes, but I also said that she's inexperienced. And that there are undoubtedly profs at the school who would be better than her through a combination of talent and experience. The show SHOWS that she still has much to learn when things backfire on her.

@L Mage: I'm not opposed to that at all; I just see no reason for such an episode to happen. There's no real reason for somepony to prove that Twilight isn't the best.

well, we've seen Spike get singed by magical means before, so possibly magical fire can harm them, even if they are more resistant to it and it's just the magic part not the fire that really stings.
