You shouldn't have done that :P. Seriously, every time I hear about the Elegy of Emptiness anywhere, I think of Ben Drowned.
Bluh. The amount of interest in Bed Drowned bothers me so much. It's not that interesting. The game should get more focus than the story based on it.

and you get to the Forest Temple, shit gets real.
The Forest Temple was the reason I couldn't get through the game. I don't know how to describe it, but I just didn't feel like playing after reaching it.

What hath I wrought? It was just a simple question.
You really should have expected something like this. It is this thread, after all.

@Kegisak, could be a version of Seinfeld Is Unfunny for you since Ocarina of time is basically the template for everything else afterwords.

@Swasfew

Oh wow, you're just like my 4 year old self! I hated that stupid Temple, but after I aged a bit more, I gave it another shot, this time with a map to cheat (it was literally the only dungeon where I had to do that), and I BEAT that Phantom Ganon bitch! It was smooth sailing from then on...

...that is, until the Water Temple -shivers-

@L Mage, If I wasn't straight I'd probably hit that.

[up]I wrote a whole thing about why I hated the water Temple, god that thing.. that place.. The Forest temple was also nightmarish.

I personally enjoyed Wind Waker and Skyward Sword most out of the 3D games. Although I admit Wind Waker has a lot of Nostalgia Filter going for it, as it was the first Zelda game that I actually owned.

Ben Drowned is mostly what got me interesting in Zelda in the first place.

Now that Ballad of the Wind Fish has been mentioned, I tracked down a 4 min 30 sec video of some guy playing it on his ocarina. By the way Mousa, do you know if Wolftrap's already had Videogames Live?

Just found something even better than the four minute video.

I think that I'm the type that knows about Ben Drowned, but will make more references to the game itself than to Ben Drowned. The Elegy Of Emptiness statue for Link actually wasn't that creepy, IMO.

Really, Mage? Ganon never seemed that interesting to me

It's pretty telling that in a remake bonus mission of the game, that made every other dungeon much harder. They actually made the Water Temple EASIER.

[up] not in the 2-d games, he gets A LOT better in the 3-d.

And then you have Giraman and Demise

Then give Ocarina of Time a test run and you might change your tune.

@Mousa: Yeah, I'd figured that was the reason. After playing a more refined version, it was just... meh. I respect it as a template, but on it's own it's only alright. There were still parts of it I liked - I really liekd when it went for the creepier stuff, like the well, and the whole time aspect was really interesting, how you could only do certain things as a kid or adult.

I actually played it once as a kid, but could never beat it. There was always one room in the forest temple I couldn't figure out. Even playing through it the second time I actually had to look it up. It's the silver eye in the twisty hallway - I had no idea that you could shoot it more than once, because the eyes before were always one use only.

[up][up]It's funny, even playing the original I never found the water temple hard at all. Granted, most people playing it espousing it's difficulty were ten at the time...

The dungeon that bothered me was the Lord Jabu Jabu's belly one... I guess that was in Link to the Past?

That whole game kinda bothered me actually.

I wonder how hard it would be to create a 2d Zelda fangame. I figure it should be Gameboy or GBC level graphics to make it easier to create.

Jabu Jabu's Belly.. God that only gives me Oracle of Ages flashbacks.. bad ones... I swear it's like no Zelda game can give you a moderate-difficulty water dungeon, they always have to make them utterly impossible!

[up][up]As the first zelda game I ever owned I can confirm it's ages.

Speaking of Ocarinas... I actually have a ceramic sweet potato Ocarina. I found it recently while cleaning out a box from when I moved... eight years ago.

@Emi: No, Jabu Jabu was Ocarina of Time. And I hated it so much. I was pretty much in a foul mood for the whole half hour of it. My roommate describes watching me play it as essentially one long, protracted sigh with a few breaks.
