Pffffffffttttt. You seem to be laboring under the delusion that my computer is good enough to play something like that

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
I may have also initially taken what he said about having her jump on him a mite literally, Mousa. With the pogo stick even.
Hey, a new comic from
westernbirds
, cool.

Stupid X-box, stealing my one chance for a satisfying video game antagonist from me. Damn them!

Get a better computer, acquire steam.

When All Else Fails, worry, that's the 14 way.
If you wish to know, you only need to ask.
Hmmmmm, not sure. Without a competent villain...
why no, I can't just play games for their gameplay anymore, without counteraction from an antagonist, I always feel TOO competent when playing a video game
It's not that there isn't counteraction from an antagonist. It's more like there's counteraction from multiple antagonists. They're fleeting and many, is the thing.
edit: Now, if you want a
scarily competent villain, there is always
Xehanort.

its time for the other signs
The end is neigh!
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
@ginger Sorry. I had to go, but for your earlier question, it focuses more on a plot than previous games and the villain(s), which are at least somewhat competent are introduced early on and make common appearances. (Don't know if you'd like it, just think you'd like it the most)
Well the Welsh have to do something useful with themselves since they have no national stereotype to exploit sans screwing sheep. Obviously you're growing money out there.

...dammit. When put on the spot, all I can remember is
The Jackal, and the man himself isn't seen in person until the final act of the story. Act one of the story has some scenes where the party is basically dodging the man. For most of the story, the main things you're fighting are actually groups of people, or temple traps and curses. I rather liked the feel of that. It's like, your character is fighting forces and magic much larger than himself. And he's just a kid, who was thrown into this destiny through outrageous circumstance.
You know, if you want a competent villain driving the plot, I think it'd probably be better to suggest that you get an emulator and translation patch, then play either
Terranigma or
Live A Live.
Live A Live especially has a very powerful, very interestingly characterized villain that nobody would fault you for finding sympathetic at times.

@crowlover Well, if you had to say they were only
somewhat competent... -_-

Not sure how you define "competent" and I have a tendency to use qualifiers like that
Ah yeah, I didn't really think of the Jackal when we were discussing Illusion of Gaia because he's pretty much only in the background for 98% of the story. I think Ginger would enjoy Terranigma too.

Let's see.
There's the king, The Jackel, the Vampires, the Mummy Queen,
The Comet, Dark Gaia... I can't think of many more that are pure villains and not groups or misguided.

@crow I define it as "the ability to get shit done without suffering massive losses"

In other news, today I discovered that I've been here for over 96% of the thread, and yet over a third of the regular posters here predate me.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Live A Live has a main villain whose reach quite literally stretches across milenna. His hatred echos through time and is much bigger than any of your characters.
And his identity?
Must not be spoiled, no matter what.
I think the problem with describing Illusion of Gaia's villains is that the main thing you're fighting is a force of nature and the subject of prophecy, while the antagonists have goals and aims that, while they hinder you, aren't intrinsically connected to that main threat. So it's harder for them to be as memorable as villains from Terranigma, Live A Live, or Final Fantasy.

Hah, I like single-player Bomberman games too. Did you try any of the Game Boy Color ones?
