@osias: We don't know if he's the pure force of Discord or not (the way the Elements of Harmony are the pure force of Harmony, that is), but he's either a direct manifestation or a spirit that's very strongly tied to Chaos. And yes, he appears the way he does because of what he is - the chaos powers make him a chimera, not the other way around.

Doesn't stop people from making silly headcanon based on that assumption. Either way it still bugs me that they essentially went for a weird psuedo-pop culture reference for the Pegasi.

There are lots of different Greek city states with varied cultures but they specifically went with spartan probably because that was the most well known Greek city state pop culture wise. I would have prefered if they were just generically Greek instead of getting that specific.

She may have. Another theory is that her parents are rich and they got it from her. Considering her behavior I wouldn't be surprised if she was at least partially a rich brat.

Well I guess she'd have to pay for furniture, but I still don't think it'd be that expensive.

I'm more than a little skeptical that Rainbow Dash has "craft: cloudhouse" in her skillset. That design is way too fancy for her to come up with. That's more like something Rarity would design if she were an architect. At the very least, it would take a hell of a lot of manhours to make it, and she ain't that patient.

Well, making the pegasi Spartans (while it's a bit of a kick in the pants to Perseus, admittedly) gives us three separate and distinct philosophies for the original tribes, while just making them 'Greek' doesn't do anything for disposition any more than making the earth ponies 'Irish' would have.

@osias: I don't know if he's an Eldritch Abomination or not; all I know is he's not just a regular chimera who happened to fall into a vat of magical waste and got superpowers from it. XD

My goes that when whatever pre-Equestrian united nation of ponies went under, many pegasi flocked to a cloud-city-state that declared martial law to maintain order, and this has stuck in their racial memory. It also ties this to the Hearts and Hooves Potion Incident that toppled the crown of the period, and forced Princess Platinum to take the reins of power at an unusually young age.

Also, Dashie totally assembled her cloud-mansion over a long period of time, renovating it piece by piece whenever she finds useful pieces of cloud at just the right size. She just bashes them into place and touches up once in a while
