@Psi 001: For better or worse that is to be expected. After all this is not an action series, and despite her abilities her "tude" pretty much makes her the ideal target for "worfing".

For whatever its worth I'm not expecting much help out of Rainbow Dash for Fluttershy. I expect she'll either be to busy to really do anything at best, or a regress to her Dragonshy attitude at worst (though I imagine if she gets frustrated enough we might get that either way).

True but I kinda wish they'd stop keep making her into the most prominant Jerkass to target the morals onto, especially since so many others seem to get a fairer balance of clarity and stupid moments. That's kinda why I liked The Last Roundup, for once Rainbow Dash got to hold the Smart Ball and was pretty competent in getting AJ out of her BSOD.

@Psi 001: I would argue quite the opposite for RD (and pretty much everypony) in that episode, but you are right that they haven't really made her all that sympathetic this season. But that is a combination of the way this season has been doing its, and the fact that I really don't think the writers really care if people relate to RD on level more then "she's awesome". It's also not exactly helpful that due to her personality it is very easy to give her the Conflict Ball without anyone batting an eyelash.

I kinda hope they do something different with this time travel thing.

At first is reused score from Dis Qord eps, but later it's sound similar to those from ME 1.

I actually think in some ways she is more sympathetic in this season then last, but that is partially due to Alternate Character Interpretation, and quirks in her first season that I disliked more then most people did.

Still the prevailing opinion is not favorable towards her.

I notice that this season has been placing some of the cast in more stricter roles, eg. Rainbow Dash is more freqeuently the Commander Contrarian, Applejack is more The Straight Man, Twilight is more of a Nervous Wreck. They have usually added at least one exceptional story for each of these to make them three dimentional but I do hope they don't limit the character's personalities too much in the future. Part of what I like about the show is that they are so varied and complex and have rather equal follies and strengths. They do at least seem to be adding more variation to the other characters however, eg. the development of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy for example, without seemingly dissolving their defining traits too much.

Sympathetic can be termed in different ways, Rainbow is a bit jerkier now but she is also a more dominant Butt Monkey / Jerkass Woobie as a result of it. It's like comparing the versions of Daffy Duck, the later one was much more vindictive and selfish, but he was also more humanized and suffered so much abuse it was hard not to feel sorry for him. A nicer character isn't neccessarily more sympathetic and developed.

Oddly enough, while I'm comfortable enough with not-liking Rainbow Dash because she's the type of person I usually don't get along with that well, it would drive me up the wall if they continued to flanderize her as the insensitively awesome prick.

Oh, Mio, I kinda disagree with you because I read Dashie and Fluttershy's dynamic a little differently, for one, Dashie pushes Fluttershy just hard enough that she can keep up, and Fluttershy responds very well even when Dashie is practically shouting at her, as in Sonic Rainboom. I have faith in their longtime friendship especially since Dashie is the Loyal one.

Also Dashie has the characterisation of the outspoken brash awesome tomboy with a surprisingly otaku tier fangirlish squee and some amusingly cute mannerisms she sometimes finds embarrassing :3 I like her that way :3
