I don't think its out of the blue for Twilight to have a brother. Spike is for all intents and purposes like a littler brother to her.
I'll stick to my notion that for some reason SA is estranged from the rest of his family and the invitation to come to the wedding is his attempt to mend fences and establish a relationship with his little sister. Of course this all hinges on the rumor being true.

Probably the best attitude to have at the current point

Gully Foyle is my name,
and Terra is my nation.
Deep space is my dwelling place,
and death's my destination.
I have to agree with Crowfall that it is possible that the two were born years a part and so weren't in a lot of contact if any with each other.
I like the idea that Shining Armor is a knight (despite my being bothered by prescient names), because I can imagine Twilight wanting to follow his example, and that's why she's always been so ready to go on dangerous missions in the name of Celestia.
They wouldn't necessarily need to be rich; Twilight got into the school because Celestia noticed Twilight at her entrance exam. SA could have easily started at a bottom rung and worked his way up.
So Twilight is not only the personal protege of the princess, but is also the soon to by sister in law to another princess who may or may not be related to Celestia, and no one at Jet Set's party recognized her?
Being rich would certainly explain where Twilight got that balloon. It twinkles for Celestia's sake!

If you wish to know, you only need to ask.
I definitely liked the idea someone (keg?) floated a while ago - that Cadence is basically Equestria's spymistress, and in order to keep herself safe and able to move around relatively covertly, she plays the pretty pink princess schtick for all it's worth, while in actuality she's a fairly cool (or fairly
chill) person, and nowhere near as saccharine or as brainless as she pretends to be. She's fond of Shining Armor, but may or may not actually love him.
Shining Armor, on the other hand, is just bursting with good intentions, but he's actually the rawest of raw recruits. He's a good person, but his major qualification is that he
looks like a knight, and thus he's perfect for Cadence's purposes. He may or may not know who she really is, but either way he's dedicated to her.
Can you think inside the chimney?
holy shit yeah,
Linkara just did a pony shout-out in his latest video

Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
Just saw the season finale synopsis. Wow. New material for shippers
The candle that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast.
She got it at the toy store of course!
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
Twilight's family being rich would explain how she can afford to just hang out in a library all year studying friendship. Makes as much sense as Celestia giving her a research grant.
