I have to say, I like the way Merriweather writes Pinkie and the way she writes Rarity. Calling Fluttershy 'sweetie' is a great touch, and it fits somehow even though this is the first time it's happened. I like it, though.

With this, I think I can safely say that MMDW can be relegated to the Old Shame bin of history. =D

biggest issue is that they make the rest of Ponyville act in whatever way is needed for the story, instead of the way they are normally portrayed.

Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.

@Red: Is it the first time? It feels like it's happened more than once... I guess that's just how natural it feels.

Also, all the uber-assertive ponies are the ones who were being dicks to Flutters. They took what they wanted, and did what they wanted! Then Flutterrage beat them in the ass.

wait, that came out wrong.

Also, don't count 'MMDW' as an old shame just yet. Plenty of fans are probably willing to call this another reason why she's terrible, and that this episode has ruined the whole series.

My thoughts:

Lots of LO Ls.
"As Celestia is my witness" is either a nod to the previous episode or a little set piece of the cultural worldbuilding
Pinkie Pie's haggling technique! I can't believe it works twice in the same episode whereas Rarity's only works once
Really like that Fluttershy is calling Pinkie and Rarity out on being petty. Not only because it's true, but because it explicitly acknowledges to the kids watching that people can have negative traits and still be a good person overall
Pinkie and Rarity confirmed for being a touch more speciesist than the others?
Is that piano theme playing right before the NMM leitmotif referring to something? Sounds familiar ... or could be just generic New Age-y sound
Man, Fluttershy's crossing over the line and then being horrified and going so far back to the other side is so familiar. Obviously it's faster because they have to cram it into a 22-minutes episode.
Speaking of which, the pacing seems pretty ok and the moral is also good. That's really nice.
Oh, and Iron Will's design really reminded me of one of those old Cartoon Network series's design. Say, circa Dexter's Lab.

I'm really loving the background details in this episode. At the beginning of the market scene Lyra is slumped at a table looking depressed and Bon Bon is walking in that direction, then for the rest of the scene they're together at the table chatting. And I just noticed Derpy at the asparagus stand being disappointed that it's sold out. Aww, its okay Derpy, it tastes terrible anyway.
