Regarding the earlier suggestion of having the poster as the main image picture, there's a way to compromise: include it under the image links tab. That page is sorely lacking anyways.

Am I the only one who thought that making Twilight the most powerful unicorn in Equestria was kindof a bad idea? Cuz it seems like next season, they might have to resort to a lot of Ass Pull or Idiot Ball moments to explain why Twilight can't vanquish every threat with her vastly superior magic.

That, or The Worf Effect is gonna start kicking in HARD for Twilight, greatly undermining what she's capable of.

Well a lot of episodes have been things you can't just throw magic at; Twilight trying to magick the dragon probably wouldn't have worked out any better than Dash kicking it, it outright backfired on the parasprite thing, and there are a lot of situations that are more social problems than danger and solving those with magic would be not only difficult, but also of questionable morality.

The one real threat that was defeated by magical means wasn't defeated directly via sheer magical force, either; magic is evidently not an instant solution.

I was just under the impression that a few moe recurring villains will be appearing in season 2, and assumed that it might mean more direct conflicts

If there's a recurring villain, they'd better make them a good one. Good in that they actually win a few times, are dangerous if necessary, and smart.

I conccur, there needs to be a villain that can really stick it to the Mane cast. Villain Decay is a seemingly inevitable thing that we'll have to deal with though, given the genre we're dealing with

Either that or Defeat Means Friendship at the end of the season, and THAT is the most plausible one, considering the title of the show has "Friendship" in it.

It could be easy to handwave Twilight's power as "she has lots of inherent ability, but is still learning how to utilize it effectively".

Or you could say she's great at using spells for their intended purpose, but not so good at improvising and using them in a fight.

^That makes sense. It takes a certain kind of mindset to find... whatever the opposite of Mundane Utility is... Martial Arts and Crafts...? Anyway, it takes a certain kind of mindset to find combat uses for everyday spells. And even then, outright violence is within neither Twilight's or the show's character.
