I'm a guy but sometimes I wish I was born female. I'm not transgendered though, since I identify as male and am fine being male. But I would have less problems if I were a girl. Like the societal expectations of males over here. Not to mention I like guys and nearly all the guys I fall for are straight. Including one guy who I'm falling for harder than I've ever fallen for somebody. But enough about that.

There are plenty of female FIM fans, and not just little girls either.

They can't really do too much with him because the fanon persona is based on another fictional character, and one who honestly doesn't fit all that well into the MLP setting.

I feel tempted in writing a story where the ponies are gender-flipped, but not by keeping their personalities intact (otherwise male!Rarity would be more Camp Gay than Kurt Hummel), but by making a Cultural Translation of what their archetypes are into a code of manliness (Rarity would be a proud, snooty Dandy type with a huge heart, something between Miles Edgeworth, Pegasus, and Vega... dammit, he still turns out to be pretty damn fruity... but his sort of vanity hasn't been seen as a good thing in a man since the XVII Ith century...).

Any suggestions?

Okay I'm satisfied with these answers. So my next question is what should bronies take away from this experience(Derpy) beside the fact that the line between canon and fanon is there for a reason?

Because most people compare him to the 10th Doctor, I assume his fanon personality would be similar, if not identical.

As I have only a knowledge of Doctor Who's basic premise: Here is The Other Wiki's comments on his personality

To be honest I don't know how he's portrayed at all, I don't usually pay much attention to such things. I'd assumed they just made him act like The Doctor (whom I also know little about).

@Sydxelia: taking a break, since I'm currently in a dark mood. I was maintaining an interest in the thread whilst cleaning anyway. I just got a ticket for supposedly running a red light, which I have not done in years. It costs approximately all of my money.
