There's people I know who would do something like Gilda did, but without the obfuscation. Wouldn't even realize that it would be rude to do that.

Open question of what would be the worst character flaw.

Or I could see it as Gilda being afraid of Dash picking Pinkie over her.

^Exactly. Pranking her was Not Cool, but it doesn't make her pure evil with no hope of redemption. If she ever swallows her pride enough to come back to Ponyville and apologize, I'm sure she could be friends with at least some of the mane six. I imagine Rarity would have great fun designing outfits for a gryphon.

I think hiding her flaws more shows that the two have grown apart, not that the relationship was always superficial.

Her with Fluttershy would be interesting, just to see the awkwardness of her trying to put the screaming incident behind them

So would you say Rainbow Dash had a Nice Job Breaking it Pony moment. Gilida would have become a better person if Pinkie got to throw the oarty with out a Dash of interference.

Quite possibly, yes, it was Dash's fault that Gilda got so pissy.

OTOH, maybe this will be the spark Gilda needs anyway.

The thing that bugs me most about Gilda is that she's more malicious. Blueblood was a jackass, but he didn't go out of his way to annoy anyone. Trixie was a little worse in that regard by picking fights with people, but even then she just provoked them into a confrontation rather than just attacking.

Gilda knows she's being a jerk and doesn't care as long as it doesn't affect her negatively. I get the feeling that the only reasons she's friends with Dash is because the latter probably compliments her flight skill or something.

@Ginger, regarding Fluttershy and Gilda: Oh, definitely. That would be pretty dang cathartic to watch.

Yeah. Like I said, Dash's big mistake was challenging Gilda in front of so many people. Gilda's even more proud than Dash is, and she couldn't have backed down or admitted she was wrong - like she might have in private - in front of an audience. So she blew up instead.

As I said, Gilda's probably never been taken down a notch before, that's why she doesn't see anything wrong with being a jerk. She clearly felt bad that RD was leaving her and tried not to be too mean when she insulted her

Luna was way worse than Gilda and even she got redeemed.

Twilight falling from a cliff/ eternal night/kidnaping Celestia/ the manticore that almost hurt the mane cast/ hurting three ponies with magic lightning...

Gilda and Trixie are redeemable without doubt.

I think the best way for Gilda to be reformed is to have her willingly befriend the other members of the mane cast. Maybe they could find something to unite over (Dash's safety maybe)

yeah that's why I mentioned it is because that's what I'm trying to do. btw, do you think Dash is smart enough to fake having amenesia and pass herself off as a bigger jerk than Gilda in order to get both Gilda and the Mane cast to team up to try stop her, becoming friends in the proces?

She's smart enough, but she's also all about her reputation, soI don't think she'd do anything that would make her look bad. Not to mention that she's a terrible liar, and that seems too indirect for her.

I can see a Gilda redemption episode having a similar plot as Winter Wrap Up. However, rather than having Gilda fit in, she'll try to make up with the main ponies she hurt the most (Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie). In each of her attempts to make right, she ends up screwing up (most likely by accident).

I'm not sure how the plot will end with Gilda redeemed though.

Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.

^It could continue the "Winter Wrap-Up" parallels by having those three ponies realize that she is genuinely trying to make it up to them, even if she is failing in practice.

That reminds me of the episode of Xiaolin Showdown when Jack Spicer tried to turn good. He made an honsest effort, but the main cast just took advantage of him, and it eventually drove him to become evil again

Back on topic! Gilda's pride will be the major obstacle to her redemption, but if she can be shown that you don't have to be Badbutt to be cool, that would work just fine. I imagine if she'd been around for "Dragonshy", "Griffon the Brush-Off" wouldn't even have happened.

one of my O Cs is TECHNICALLY a alicorn but that's only because a pheniox made a Heroic Sacrifice to save her and in the result she had his wings granted to her body magically.

Actually, I imagine that Fluttershy being the first to forgive would be the case. Fluttershy was only afraid of her; Dash was pretty ticked, and pinkie...well, I doubt Pinkie would trust her at the end of it. I can see Dash thinking about forgiving her from the start, but the mess ups making it seem like she was a jerk...So maybe Gilda flies off somewhere to sulk, and Fluttershy just happens to be around for it?
